NHBC Award for pride in Churchfields

August 2009

Arley Homes is celebrating an NHBC quality award for its superb Churchfields development in Harwood, near Bolton. Site manager Bill Wilson has been given the Pride in the Job (PIJ) Award in recognition of the exceptional standard of this stunning bespoke development of 17 family homes on the edge of the Lancashire countryside.

This is the second consecutive year that Bill has won a Pride in the Job award, following the plaudits he and the team achieved Arley’s luxury development of five bedroom detached properties at The Coppice, Rainford, in 2008.

Bill said: “I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of the whole team here at Arley Homes, all of whom have such commitment to building beautiful family homes. We take great pride in our work and get huge satisfaction from seeing the delight of the people who buy our properties, so it’s fantastic to also be recognised by our industry in this way.”

To qualify for a Pride in the Job award, each site manager undergoes spot checks on the day-to day running of the site, as well as an individual assessment across 38 areas of site management, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and the quality controls they have in place.

Imtiaz Farookhi, NHBC Chief Executive, says: “For almost 30 years NHBC’s Pride in the Job competition has rewarded those site managers who, like Bill, produce the best new homes which are built and finished to the highest possible standard.

“Despite the additional challenges the downturn has created on site, we are delighted that maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service has remained a high priority for winning site managers.”

More than 13,000 site managers across the country are entered into the Pride in the Job awards and only 400 are given a Quality Award, due to be presented at a gala dinner in October.

John Cosgrave, managing director of Arley Homes, is delighted with the success of the Churchfields development and has congratulated Bill on his achievement. He said: “Bill and his team have worked extremely hard to ensure Churchfields lives up to the quality standards which we set here at Arley Homes.

“The fact that Bill has been awarded the Pride in the Job Quality Award for the second consecutive year is a fantastic achievement. Judging for these awards is a rigorous process and therefore it really does demonstrate hard work and dedication. Bill’s commitment to excellence speaks for itself and I am thrilled he has been commended with this award.”
